BETHANY!!!!!!!!!! I just want to share one thing of advice for
playing on varsity, and 'being nervous'. If you're nervous, it will not
go away just by playing in more games. Its going to stay with you, if
the games and practices are all that you do. You'll be nervous all year.
BUT what you do is practice at home and in your free time, and imagine
yourself doing well, and it will start to go away. Once you work on the
fundamentals and get them mastered, the nerves will go away. Trust me,
I'm a doctor.
Anyways, Laval is doing great! Elder Pehrson and I had a
great week, and its super fun to always be thinking about ways we can
improve.
The Clarks are doing well, but Danny
isn't moving too quickly. And its tough, because nows the time that we
need to say YES and get everything prepared, but we're working on it.
Tracey is doing amazing though (the mom). She read the 2 Nephi chapter
32 that we left her, and knew that it was true. Then she had a great
experience with prayer this week. She was really struggling with her
French examens, and couldn't retain anything she was reading. So she
finally knelt down and prayed and asked God to help her, and told us
that immediately after it was as if her mind just opened up and she was
able to get the work done, in time. Danny was really touched by that
experience too. It was great.
The Clarks and also our friend Valerie have dates for the 8th of June.
Valerie is doing amazing! She is really excited for her baptism, and
while we're going through the commandments with her, shes learning and
really trying to apply what we teach. She talked about feeling
opposition though, which was scary. But Pierre, her less active
boyfriend was able to testify to her about the importance and truth of
what she's trying to do, and how he's been feeling it as well, but will
keep going. Pierre and his brother and mother all came to church
yesterday (with Valerie) for the first time in a little under 15 years.
Miracles! They enjoyed it and got to talk to Bishop Lallemant about
preparing a marriage for Pierre and Valerie. So we're going to have to
see if they're going to have to get married before or after the 8th.
We also got to teach a man Jing Wang this week, who is
awesome. He was a contact made in Ville Marie in Montreal, who lives up
here in Laval. Hes a nice 24 year old Chinese man, and at first didn't
really seem too interested at all. But then we saw him the next day, and
he had prayed, and thought a lot about what we had taught, even though
he understands almost nothing about God or Jesus Christ. Its pretty
exciting to teach him!
We had a lot of planning to do this week, with a lot of
lessons, with not too much time to find people, but we were blessed
with people regardless. They were really just put into our path.
I think I forgot to mention something about our district. President
Cannon made some changes in our district a week and a half ago, and so
all in all, we had half of a companionship switched out, and President
gave us the District Leader responsibilities as well. So its been a lot
of work hah. But its fun. Really stressful, but fun.
I love obedience. Its been something Elder Pehrson and I
are striving for every day, but also something to teach and help with
for all the missionaries around us. Its amazing to feel the Spirit and
change that is with us as we are obedient, and vice-versa. That would be
the advice for Dallin for the week - The spirit is everything in
missionary work, and you only get it through obedience and prayer. Then,
you get to work as God intends you to.
Also, put your companion first, and everything will go so much better!
I love you all! Hope you have a great week. Bethany, Im not kidding.
Elder Austin Keith Murphy
