La Salle Rollercoaster- January 28, 2013

Hello!!!!!
Mom! So proud of that story you said. Of course that was a success, that's super cool. Do you know if they're going to come?
And I'm sorry you and Dad got sick! sounds like it was pretty bad for Dad. Hope you all are feeling better.
So how set is Dallin on his decision? Or no? I haven't really heard anything from him.
The weather here has been pretty cold. Definitely the coldest I've ever been in hah but that's not so bad. We made sure to spend our time knocking in apartment buildings, which was superr nice since we're on the island. Outside of the island of Montreal, there's not so many. So that's good timing for being stationed here in La Salle. Yes, the car is working fine. And we seem to be warm enough, even when do go knock outside in the duplexes. It's always fun.
But this week was quite a rollercoaster. We started off the week on fire, and got to have some great lessons and finding opportunities, and then for some reason, we had this slump in the middle of the week. Nothing seemed to happen. And then, of course, it picks right back up again in full swing.
Sheryl, Kemar's mother, is still doing well. She said she would like to be baptized (This moment was one of my very favorites so far. She is sitting on the edge of her seat, listening to Elder Lanning describe how we as missionaries invite others to accept the blessings of the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ through baptism, and she is just sitting there nodding her head. And when he invited her to be baptized, it was like she was trying with all of her might to hold back this huge smile hah, almost as if she had been waiting for this moment.) but she didn't want to fix a specific date. So we're still working with her, and we're very excited about her. She said she'll be coming to church this next week.
Our family from Virginia and Ottawa, Jen and Blake, are doing well. We went and ate a very healthy vegetarian meal with them on Thursday night, and shared a little thought. They said they're not terribly interested in changing (I think Jen actually is, but Blake isn't. BLAKE!!!!) so we'll just keep in contact with them for the next while. They did say they're going to try to come to church soon.
But then!!! We got to meet Andre, a friend the missionaries in Ville Marie were teaching (who speaks english) who is preparing for his baptism on the 15th of March. So we'll be working with him from now on. He's a very humble nice man from St. Vincent, and came to church on Sunday! Actually Chris Gagnon brought him to church, who just got back home from the Philippines on Wednesday from his mission. He's awesome. He seemed very happy to come to church with us.
Also, Victoria, a 17 year old girl from Pennsylvania came to church yesterday too! We met her on Wednesday night, knocking in her buildling. She's living by her self in Montreal, and is very upbeat and happy. She liked church too. Everyone was super excited to talk with her, the only girl with purple hair and gauges in her ears. She's sweet!
Then, lastly, our next door neighbors Larry and Lisa came to church yesterday too! They stopped us on Saturday night and said they would like to come to church with us, and then they did! It was so awesome! Everyone in the ward got to say hi to them, and made them feel welcome. We're going to try to get something set up with them, and see how they liked it.
It was just a crazy end to our week. We were really blessed to be able to help those 4 people (with Larry and Lisa's kids) come to church for the first time. We're really looking forward to working with our friends that we met this week.

We got to have interviews again, with President Cannon. He is just so awesome. It is no doubt an honor to be able to serve under him, and I'm sad that he's going to be leaving in just a few months. He has really talked with me recently about how to take everything moment by moment, and not be always worrying about doing everything physically possible. He's really an awesome example of that. He can take the time to sit with you and just focus on you, and make you feel loved for those few minutes.
   Love that guy.

I hope all is well in California/Idaho/North Carolina! Tell Cole to stop growing so much.

Love,
Elder Murphy
