And
holy cow, those volleyball pictures were something else. Dallin, you're
such a stud. Doing the dump on CdM!! I hope that one fell down. (Have
you been working out?) And man, it was good to see a picture of Derek. I
sure hope he's doing well!
We had a great week here in Laval. The
Mendozas are doing well, and are now living with another family in the
ward. We'll see how long they'll be there for.
The
Clark family is doing great! Their oldest, Ryan, is still such a treat
to teach, he's just ready for anything. But, Danny (the father) said he
wasn't ready just yet for the 27th of April. So! We're going to see them
this Friday to set another date; one for which they'll be ready to work
for and be prepared for baptism. Tracy and Ryan both said they were
ready but they're waiting on Danny. Even though he said it's coming
soon, its not happening this week. But, we're excited to work with them
until then.
by the way, do you have that talk from the BYUI
president about answering peoples questions with the Book of Mormon? How
he would help them find their answers? I want to look at that again.
We're trying to work on that skill together here in Laval.
We had a lesson yesterday using President Monsons
talk on Obedience! It was awesome. First, because I just love that word.
And second, because it has so many great principles that we all need to
apply, but yet, it wasn't until Sunday night, a couple hours after
church, that I really learned a great lesson. There was a point read
during the lesson, about how we receive light and truth as we are
obedient, because God will grant it to us. There were also some members
of the Elders Quorum who didn't really understand it, let's say. Some
people might think that our testimonies or faith grows as we mess up or
sin, but the point was clear, that it truly comes through obedience to
the Lord's commandments. So, it made a good discussion. But then that
night, we went out with Guy Simard, a member of the ward here in Laval
(The Cedric Phan of Laval, I'd say). The 2 lessons we had fell through,
but yet something really hit me when we got turned away from a less
active member we were trying to visit - Guy Simard is one of the
happiest men on the entire earth. This man barely has much, but all he
does have, he gives it to others, in the church and out of it. For
example, he finally bought a car, so that he could lend it to a friend
who needs to drive far away for work every day. He spends all his time
available helping others, and loving them, which is obedience to a
higher law. And the happiness that he was showing last night really
struck me. It confirmed to me what President Monson taught us at
Conference. Obedience is the key! And it truly brings about the
blessings of heaven.
French is going well, with a little difficulty for those heavy Quebecois accents. How Guy speaks, for example hah.
But!
I hope all is well. Have a good time in Oakland Dad. Camille, work
hard. Alyse, cute pictures! Cole, is your recital this week? Bethany,
how are you?
A plus,
Elder Austin Murphy
