I got a letter from Cole and dad this week, hah thanks so much. Cole, I'm happy you cleaned your room too bud.
This week was great. We had 8 people come to church
yesterday, which was great! The Clark family came, and are always so
sincere, and ready to join, but they're just so darn busy that we can
never go visit them. Hopefully we can see them this vendredi. We were
really blessed with a lot of friends coming to church.
We got to go to the English Branch's ''Sugar Shack'',
which from everything I've heard, is just a super funny thing they do
here in Quebec/Canada. It was basically a normal dinner/breakfast, with
eggs, waffles, ham, sausages, but also other things like coleslaw, and
potatoes, and then maple syrup. So you just get a plate together, then
you pour your maple syrup all over it hah and it tastes very good. That
was a good night.
We had a great experience on Tuesday of this week, when
after a snow storm we went out looking for less active members who
people havent heard from in forever, and on the way to our car from a
home, we stop to help this man shovel his snow. And the first thing he
says is, 'Thank you Elder........... Christensen!' He definitely knew
who we were. He let us come in after we shoveled his walkway, where we
met his mother named Winny, who is a less active member of our church!
Look at that! She has kind of been lying low ever since they moved from
Lachine (close to La Salle) about 3 years ago, and ever since her
husband passed away. We're pretty excited to work with them, because
there's quite a ways to go for them.
We also got to meet another inactive member, named Mona
Lisa. After trying to hide as we saw her close the door in front of us,
she eventually let us in and we got to teach a short lesson with her
and her two non-member daughters. This family has suffered a lot, and
you can just see how quickly they can progress if they just can grasp
the light of the gospel. I love lessons like that, especially with
members who haven't been practicing for a long time. Its such a shock to
them to really feel the Spirit again (of course, if they let it
happen). I want to do this to the Irvine Ward ward list. Some day.
Describe Laval: Yep, we're in a car. We don't know if
we're going to have to share a car when the sisters come in, but most
likely, yes. We already have Elder Berdichevski and Elder Foster who
work in Laval Ouest (but now they should be called Laval north because
they're mainly going to be working north of the island of Laval) working
with us in the area, but since we're going to be having so many
missionaries, we're going to be getting sister missionaries here in the
ward as well, soon. So, we'll see how that goes.
Laval is basically like Montreal, just without the huge buildings,
and there's just less of it. I would say almos half of the island of
Laval is not built on yet, but they do have many apartment buildings and
duplexes as well. There are some wealthy areas too, but we don't spend
too much time there.
About la paroisse Laval. Its big! Its a very big french ward. The
Bishop is a young funny Quebecois man, but probably half of the ward is
Spanish/Hatian. Its awesome. They love missionaries, and we get fed
pretty regularly.
