So, it was quite the week here in Laval. First, Valerie didn't get baptized on Saturday, which was kind of the height of all the crazy things that happened here!
Monday
was fun, when we got to go down to Terrebonne and have a zone activity
with all the elders (we played volleyball!). I got a call while we were
playing, from a office elder, who told us that we needed to move
apartments. ASAP. So! Tuesday
morning, we started moving, and it took all day. We also learned that
the owner of the previous apartment was not very happy that we hadn't
moved any earlier (even though we had no idea) so we had to spend some
hours after cleaning the apartment to make it ready to sell. We also
finished doing that on Thursday, which was sad that we had to do that instead of working.
On Wednesday!
We had Zone Study! It was actually super good. We had some amazing
trainings from the missionaries who gave it, and then Elder Pehrson and I
tried our best to give a good training. We did it on the expectations
the Lord has for us as missionaries. Then, at 1h00, we started the
all-day, mission wide, contacting festival. We split all the teams up,
and sent them places in Laval to just contact all day, because mission
wide we've been trying to work on being able to talk to everyone, and
then once we can do that, improving our contacts.
It was great, and all of the missionaries enjoyed it (even when many of them said on Thursday
morning that they weren't looking forward to it hah). It was great to
see miracles happen with our missionaries, especially with some that are
really struggling right now.
Thursday,
we got to see Valerie in the morning, and we learned that Pierre and
Valerie were still spending some nights with each other in Pierres
apartment, so we had to postpone. It was super sad. They were very very
disappointed, and pretty upset, to say the least. So, up until today
actually, we had no idea what was going to happen with them.
Thursday we had a couple other lessons, and finished cleaning the old apartment.
Friday,
we had weekly planning, had to go to Montreal to find some desks from
the mission storage, and arrange some things in our new apartment. Then
finally Friday night we got to go to work.
Then! Saturday
we got to work work work, which we were excited to do! It felt super
good just to be able to work again hah. And we had transfer calls on Saturday night, and we're staying together!! We're really happy.
Our area has really hit a bump right now, but we're looking forward.
We
got to talk with Pierre this morning, and we cleared a lot of things
up. So we still obviously need to meet with Valerie, but it seems like
we're going to have a quick marriage with them with Bishop Lallemant,
and then we can help her get baptized! So we'll definitely have much
more to report on that next week.
What else..... immmmm The Clark family is doing
well, Danny is supposedly progressing (slowing down on coffee and other
stuff), but we haven't seen them in a while. So we'll get to see them on Wednesday and we'll move on from there.
So! I've got to learn a lot of lessons this week.
One is even with all the stuff we wished didn't happen this week, its
still the best to be here. Ive been able to see the desire in me to
share the message that we share with everyone grow, even in this last
week. I love being a missionary. Even when people try to kick you out of
the building you're knocking in, or when they slam the door when they
recognize who you are. We're getting to find the gems here!
Love you all!
Elder Murphy
Here's my friend Elder Bareno and I on a split, drinking some good Columbian drink.
And Zone Activity!
