Aurevoir to my friend President Cannon- June 25, 2013

Wasn't that broadcast amazing???? It sure was! And it was crazy, because I SWEAR in the Oklahoma segment, my friend Dallin Cutler was a missionary there, and that just made my month. Holy cow hah, I cant really describe how happy I was to see him there.
Okay! Sorry, I don't have time to read any of the emails, because we had mission leadership council today, so we got cut short with p-day. oh yeah! Hah sorry about yesterday, but it was Saint Jean Baptist day, so we couldnt do any proselyting after 5:00. People like to get crazy here! So we had Preparation day today.

We had quite a crazy week though. On Tuesday I got to go do a split in Valleyfield with Elder Lanning! It was good to serve with a friend again. We did contacting the whole day, with one interruption to 'teach a lesson' with an 'investigator' they have there at this soup kitchen place. It was fun. But then an investigator there needed a baptismal interview, so I had the privilege of doing that. She's doing really well, but due to a similar problem to Valeries, she wasn't able to be baptized on Saturday. Very very sad. But! we're working with Valleyfield to see when they can help her do that.

Wednesday, we had another split, and Elder Olsen(!) came here to Laval!! Hah another old companion/friend! It was sure a lot of fun. We contacted quite a bit during the night after we had 2 lessons in the afternoon.

Then the rest of the week was good. Fyi, turns out that Valerie and Pierre need to wait 2 more weeks for the marriage papers to get finalized, and since they're leaving for Vietnam in 1 week for 3 weeks (confusing, I know), we're going to have to wait a while. She was really really hoping to be baptized this week, but along with President Cannon, it was clear that it will be better if we wait. So, we're praying for after they get back we can get that started!

Then we were able to go to the conference Sunday night, which was really amazing. It was so great to see the vision that our leaders have for missionary work throughout the world. We're trying to get more involved our WML so we can start implementing the things we learned.

But we got to give a training this morning about the morning schedule. And that was good. But it was pretty sad today, as it is President Cannon's last week in the mission, and it was basically his last meeting with missionaries this morning with us. It sure isn't the end of the world, but we just all love him and Sister Cannon so much.

But! I think the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve knew how much we love the Cannons, so they put President Patrick as a spotlight for the worldwide broadcast! Just to show us, it's okay, he's awesome. That was pretty sweet! So he'll be coming at the end of the week and we'll have him as our mission President! We're pretty excited.

We had a wonderful experience yesterday. I watched a video segment on how to teach people and not lessons during lunch, and then we got to work, and that video was really stuck in my head about how we can better apply that for our companionship. We drove down to Pont-Viau in Laval, and decided to pass by a less-active member, Sylvain. I think it was the 3rd time we've passed by. And this is the first time he opened up! He immediately let us in, and we started to have a little lesson with him. We tried our best to listen to him, and really figure out which principle of the Gospel we should teach to him, according to what he tells us. So eventually, he told us he left the church in 2006, and has been scared to do anything with God ever since, even pray. So we taught about who our Heavenly Father is exactly, and his infinite love for all of us. We taught him the importance of prayer. And he said he was scared! So we taught it again, and at the end of the lesson, Sylvain prayed for the first time in 7 years!! The Spirit was super strong. It was a wonderful experience for us, and we're looking forward to see him again, to really help him receive the blessings from the Gospel again. It was another testimony builder that this Gospel is for everyone, we just need to help them see what part of the doctrine is missing in their life.

But I love you all! I love these pictures of us and the Cannons, even though im kind of annoyed that the quality isnt THATT good. But thats okay! All is well.

Hope all is good, and Ill write next week.

Love
Elder Murphy
