Sounds like a super fun week at the family reunion! So great to have such a wonderful family.
1. I wrote last week on Tuesday because it was Canada day? I think thats what it was.
2. Yep, President Patrick came to our Zone Study! Another zone was
having it at the same time in the same building, so he came in to meet
all of us, and then took all of us into another room and talked to us.
It was great! He came with 5 kids, with one leaving soon on her mission
to France. Theyre still trying to get settled in, but they seem great
already. He's really starting to push member work and working more with
the ward, so we're going in a good direction.
3. It has been pretty hot recently hah. We finally bought a fan in
the apartment (well another elder did) which helps, because we dont have
AC. but you know, we keep going. It is funny sitting there and sweating
as you study the scriptures or Preach My Gospel at 9 in the morning
hah. And yeah we're dealing with it well.
4. Thanks for your prayers! The Clarks are doing well, they came to
church and are doing well. Danny gave the Ok for us to announce it to
the branch, and so we're going for it. Marie and Rudy also came to
church in the Laval ward yesterday, and they loved it! Marie is still
talking about getting ready for her baptism on the 3rd with her son
Rudy, but we might have to change the date as the bishop said yesterday,
but we'll see. But she's doing really well. We got to teach tithing,
follow the prophet, and the word of wisdom this week, so it was a heavy
week hah. But for sure, it does change everything with summertime and
vacations. We're waiting for a couple investigators to come back soon.
5. Memorable tracting experiences..... Well this week was fun. We
decided to go contact by the metro in Laval, which is used less
frequently than the metros in Montreal, but its okay. We stood out side
contacting the people coming out and going in, and it was super fun. We
got a lot more contacts than we can knocking, and people cant use the
excuse 'on est en train de super' so thats nice! We found a couple
potentials. And one guy threatened us, well two that day actually. So
that was fun. We did that outside the metro contacting almost all day on
the 4th of July. What a wonderful way to celebrate!!!
We got to meet a very nice older man this week, Martin, who
immediately told us he wasnt interested (happens frequently). But of
course, you just keep talking, and they open up. He told us about how he
used to really believe in God, but that through many hardships hes lost
his faith. He had a child with autism and can't understand what God
would let that happen. He said that hes been suffering for that for a
couple years. It was a very good contact, and we got to share our
testimonies about God the Father and Christ and his Atonement. In the
end he didnt want to receive us again, but we know that he felt the
Spirit as we talked to him. Then I mentioned the Book of Mormon to just
try one more thing, and he said he would be interested in that. Very
interesting. So he took the book, and we're hoping he keeps reading it
(he had started it by the time we were at the next door). We have
contacts like that often enough, where they don't want us to come back,
but you can tell that they're wanting us to help them. Now that I better
understand the history of Quebec and religion, I understand why this
happens. It sure is sad, but we can't change the past. It's great
though, that people can get good contact with our church, or any church
for that matter.
And, there are always people waiting to receive us, en plus. So we
contacted a lot this week, and will have a lot again this week. We're
trying to get in member visits too so we can help our member families
start sharing the gospel with their friends.
Love you all! Thanks for the questions. if you have any more, shoot them along.
